Start the morning with a delicious cup of joe.

Perhaps the biggest nightmare occurs after you’ve woken up: you pour yourself a cup of coffee and it’s bitter, thick, and just flat-out gross! The reality is that despite how much we drink it, most Americans don’t know how to brew the perfect cup of Joe. Throw in other considerations such as how to flavor coffee, and then we have quite a complicated task at hand.

Pumpkin Spice syrup is sure to give you the warm, cozy feeling of the holiday season with just a pump or two in your favorite beverage.

By avoiding these seven mistakes, you’ll be able to ensure a perfect start to your day, every day.

  1. Using old coffee. This is a simple mistake because most of us don’t realize that coffee goes bad faster than we think. Once you open a bag, you have approximately a week to use it before the freshness – and flavor – begin deteriorating. Of course, you can fix this by buying only what you need for the week or storing extra coffee in air-tight containers.
  2.  Getting the wrong flavored syrups for coffee. If you’re a coffee addict, then you know that quality truly does matter. Instead of getting generic syrups at your local store, why not indulge in Amoretti Premium Pumpkin Spice Syrup or other quality flavors? Using flavored syrups for coffee made with the finest ingredients will make your cup comparable to your local coffee shop.
  3. Inefficient coffee-to-water ratio. Many people eyeball the amount of coffee they use to brew a single cup. However, it’s generally accepted that for every 6 ounces of coffee you want to drink, you’ll have to use 2 tablespoons of grounds. Of course, you can decrease or increase this basic ratio to vary for your particular taste.
  4. Not learning how to flavor coffee. While you should be creative in the way that you make specialty coffee, learning how to flavor coffee properly will have a major effect on the way it tastes. First, try mastering the basics. Can you make a latte, mocha, or cappuccino? If you can easily brew these drinks, then experiment adding flavored syrups for coffee such as Amoretti Premium Chai Syrup to enhance the flavor. Just like the coffee-to-water ratio, there’s a fine syrup-to-coffee ratio that must be followed. Most people find that ½ to 1 pump of flavored syrups for coffee is optimal per cup.
  5. Putting coffee in the freezer. Many people who try to preserve their coffee beans will put them in the freezer, but this is actually a worse strategy than using an airtight container. You see, when the beans are eventually taken out, condensation will form on them, and the moisture will affect the flavor.
