- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup shortening
- 1 egg
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¾ tsp Amoretti Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla (2 fold) Extract
- 2 ¾ cups flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
Cream the sugar and shortening together in a mixing bowl. Add the eggs, sour cream, and vanilla and mix thoroughly. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt and fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Chill the dough for 4 hours.
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
On lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to a ¼-inch thickness. Cut it into Christmas shapes with floured cookie cutters. Bake the cookies at 375°F for 7 to 8 minutes or until golden. Allow the cookies to cool completely on wire racks before frosting and decorating as desired.
