New Amoretti Brandy Cocktail Recipe for Summer
For most of our team, brandy is a winter drink. Brandy has that smooth, warm quality that’s made for a large snifter and a roaring fire. It goes hand in hand with wool afghans, burning leaves, and hot chocolate. But the funny thing about brandy is that the moment you pair it with a mixer, you almost always, without fail, will have a spring/summer cocktail on your hands.
With the right liqueur or cocktail mix, you can bring just about any kind of brandy out of the winter storehouses into the spring. Just take the Jack Rose, Deauville, and Sidecar as classic examples of this phenomenon.
With those cocktail recipes at the tiller of our imagination, we set to work to create a cocktail recipe that uses brandy and Amoretti Pineapple Martini Cocktail Mix (a concept we mentioned in passing earlier this month). Here’s what we came up with…
Amoretti Pineapple Brandy Cocktail Recipe
- 2 oz brandy
- 2 oz Amoretti Pineapple Martini Cocktail Mix
- 1 oz puréed strawberry
First, purée your strawberries. For such a small amount, using a muddler will suffice. If you’re going to make several of these, you might just want to use a food processor or handheld blender. Next, add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain and pour into a chilled Old Fashioned glass. Garnish with a wedge of lime (optional).
Why We Love This Recipe
If you’re a fan of the dark spirits (or you’re tired of all those vodka, gin, etc. summer recipes), then you might just fall in love with this cocktail recipe. A good summer drink recipe needs fruitiness, but that doesn’t mean it necessarily has to utilize a clear spirit. Dark spirits like brandy can work in summer drink recipes if you know what you’re doing!
Secondly, we like this recipe because it challenges convention tastefully. Gin doesn’t always have to go with lime. Whiskey isn’t limited to cola. Tequila can be paired with something other than triple sec. Brandy and pineapple are definitely a unique combination, but the combination works!
Thirdly, we like this recipe because, well, to be frank with you… it tastes pretty amazing. And, when it comes to cocktail recipes, that’s basically what it all boils down to. Give it a try yourself. And don’t just try this recipe, but create your own unique spin-off; challenge convention in your own kitchen! Strike on some liquid gold? Let us know on the Amoretti Twitter page!
