In the distance, you hear a lawn mower softly purring, its sound ricocheting between the toasted brick walls and steaming asphalt of the neighborhood. There’s the soft, monotonous drone of crickets as the sun makes its westward decline and the air is still, hot, and soaked in suffocating humidity.
Friends, during times like these you need a drink. But not just any drink. Something that refreshes while invoking that bygone era of men in three-piece linen suits and women with delicately painted brisé or cockade fans.
It’s during lazy, listless times like these that you need the Amoretti Sweet Bourbon Sour cocktail recipe. This is a drink that refreshes and cools while offering some faint Faulknerian-collective-conscious reminder of a time when there was no air conditioning or electric freezer. Ready to start sippin’? Here we go…
Amoretti Sweet Bourbon Sour
Add all ingredients to an Old Fashioned glass with ice. Gently stir, garnish, and enjoy.
If you’ve never tried our Lemon Drop Martini Cocktail Mix before, then this is a fabulous introduction. While we love mixing this with clear spirits like vodka and gin, bourbon really takes the cake when it comes to combo-power. You don’t have to buy an expensive single-barrel bourbon either. Whether you prefer your bourbon aged in charred oak barrels or whether you couldn’t care less, you’ll find its relationship to our lemon cocktail mix remarkable!
When you add a little Amoretti Premium Mojito Mint Syrup, this drink really comes into its own. Though the tangy cocktail mix is going to keep our Sweet Bourbon Sour from getting anywhere near mint julep classification, the Mojito mint syrup does lend it an air of Kentucky’s greener pastures.
Finish it off with a maraschino cherry garnish in honor of the Old Fashioned, one of our favorite bourbon-buoyed cocktails, and you’ll have a cocktail that will break through the thick, insectile hum of even the hottest summer days.
If you enjoy the Sweet Bourbon Sour, we’d love to hear about it. You can drop us a line through our website or connect with us and other Amoretti fans on the official Amoretti Facebook and Twitter pages. Stay cool out there this summer and keep sending us your ideas and requests for cocktail recipes!
